The above is a link to Danny Boyle on India

Due to not yet seeing the film judging by the trailer i can see that the film brings out the traditional aspects of the Indian culture. However the movie is seen to be representing India in a negative way the idea of the voice over saying "How can a boy from the slams know all the answers" this could be seen as a stereotype of labelling all the poor people dumb, the idea that he is trying to go against his stereotype leads to him rebelling against his label of not being as clever as others because of the living conditions he lives in. According to SHEP politically it is very American based as the we can see in some parts of the trailer their is a culture clash. Also we can see that the film is taking the historical perspective combined with the modern perspective such as the programme "Who wants to be a Millionaire" is very modern however their is images of children on top of trains and working at a very young age shows that idea of a historical perspectives when their was know specific laws making these kinds of things illegal. Also according to SHEP the idea of economical deprivation comes in as the whole film is showing the very deprived parts of India and representing it all in a certain way however not showing the glamours parts of it. The women represented in the film is seen to be a very vulnerable beautifull women who we see always needing to get saved by the man this links to the Proppian theory.

THE ARTICLE

The article talks about the film suggesting how it only shows cruelty and the down side of India however it is not glamorizing it in any way as the point of it is to make the audience think in a certain way so it could be linked to the film directly.

Paragraph Re Write

"You know me i don't really believe in marriage, Now botox on the other hand works every time."[1]

This essay will be investigating how females are represented in Sex and the City the movie, are these representations stereotypical and do they differ from the representations of women in previous texts.

According to Tushmen [2] it is said that women have been symbolically annihilated through television showing that women do not count for much, however to a certain extent extent this theory is controversial.Representation is mainly linked to stereotypes, which is the social classification of a group of people identifying common characteristics and identifying them in a often over simplified and generalised way. Stereotypes of gender roles have been changed dramatically within society today. Historical films such as "Some Like it Hot" (1959) staring Marylin Monroe. Monroe is known to be a sexy, blond female.
Laura Mulvey[3] defined characters such as Marylin Monroe as sexual symbols for the male gaze. However over many years their has been a major change were women are gaining their Independence and freedom, therefore according to Mulvey as well as the male gaze the female gaze is becoming much popular. Sex And The City girls are typical examples of of women who are independent, successful, have sexual freedom and focus on their carriers, however historically this was not the case as women were known to be at home, this links to "Gunter's Theory (1995) were he found out that women's main priorities at that time was marriage, Parenthood and Domesticity.

According to "Tushmens" theory (19..) it is said that women have been symbolically annihilated through television showing that women do not count for much, however to a certain extent extent this theory is controversial.
