Reasons why women directors are such a rare sight.

FIVE reasons why women directors are such a rare sight; research FIVE women directors and put brief summaries of them and their films on your blogs; suggest THREE ways the number of female directors could be improved.

Men directors are more likely to make more successful films than women directors.

women may be discouraged by the lack of women being film directors.

Men are more likely to be preferred over women in a directors job.

Women are not as interested as men are in the film industry

Women may be seen as unreliable relating to men.

Women directors can be improved in three different ways.

  1. Get to know more about the film industry

  2. Be interested in the films they do.

  3. Be more reliable

Stereotypical women in advertisements.

The above image is representing the women as a sex symbol with all the men around her and holding her down suggesting that they are in controll of her. This women will be known as a whore instead of a Madonna as she is dressed as in sexy tight revealing clothing, not only that but she has men all around her holding her down suggesting that she needs the male for support. The red lipstick suggests that the women is a 'femme fatal sexy lady and gets things her way through her looks.

Historical housewife

However comparing this image to the Dolce and Gabana advert their has been a huge turn over. This women is wearing a pretty dress and her hair done up suggesting that she has to look pretty at all times for her husband. Her cleaning gloves connotes that she is wearing them proudly and is happy that her role in the house is just to do the housework and be their for her husband.

Another modern advertisement.

This advertisement is of a very well known celebrity Britney Spears. Due to her being alone in the advert it suggests that she is independent and free. Unlike the Dolce and Gabana advert Britney Spears is not positioned in the middle of many guys. She is wearing quite reveling cloths however it is all neutral and white colours suggesting that she is neutral and innocent.
